Sun don't shine on the same dog's tail all the time.

Southern Sayings

  • Gone back on your raisin. (Denying your heritage)
  • Get the short end of the stick. (Treated unfairly)
  • Either fish or cut bait. (Do something or get out of the way)
  • Don't count your chickens until they hatch. (don't anticipate something, unless you know for sure)
  • Don't let the tail wag the dog. (Don't let someone else control what is yours)
  • Barking up the wrong tree. (Accusing the wrong person)
  • Scared as a cat at the dog pound. (Do I have to clarify?)
  • He couldn't find his ass with a flashlight in each hand. (Dumb)
  • The wheels still turning, but the hamster's dead. (Person doesn't understand)
  • As bad-off as a rubber-nosed woodpecker in a petrified forest
